Yoga  Lifestyle Programme

I have just put all my food shopping away after a healthy shop at Morrison's. I will be sharing some of my recipes throughout the programme and explaining the ayurvedic properties of each dish.

Today is the first day of the 6 week Yoga Lifestyle Programme and I must say that it has been fantastic so far! It has been exciting today listening to my student's and finding out what their goals are. Some want to lose weight, some gain weight, the rest to maintain a healthy body. Improvement in strength and flexibility has been high on the list of many students along with stress reduction and relaxation.

It was loads of fun presenting the first of 6 master classes today at 12 Gauge MMA. Small group training has really allowed me to work with each of my students individually to help them work towards their goals.
They are all focused and already making big changes to improve their health and wellbeing and it's only day one! I am very excited to help them along their journey!

I delivered Pavanmuktasana (Joint freeing sequence) for my first master class today and the group loved it! This sequence is brilliant for freeing any tension in the joints and aiding in pain relief and increased joint mobility.
This master class will be available in the morning for those of you that are on the online programme. This sequence can be used any time throughout the day to get the energy moving and to relieve any joint stiffness.

We ended class today with nadi shodhana (nostril breathing).
Breathing solely through one nostril can change your energy and mood.

Left nostril breathing activates the Ida Nerve Ending in the left nostril, which relates to calmness and relaxation. Breathing through the left nostril even if it's just for a few minutes and exhaling out of the right calms the mind and relaxes the body.

Practice left nostril breathing any time you feel stressed or when you can feel your heart rate raising... You will feel much calmer within minutes!

Right nostril breathing activates the Pingala Nerve Ending in the right nostril, which stimulates the mind and body. Breathing in through the right nostril and out of the left for a few minutes energizes the mind, body and spirit.

If you struggle to wake up in a morning practice right nostril breathing in a seated position in your bed before you rise.

Namaste,

Sharon xXx
